Osprey Tools … If you are comfortable with a conventional gouge, you will like the Osprey for finish cuts. It is used like any conventional gouge. Anchor, Bevel, Cut. It is a gouge that never needs sharpened.

Hercules Tools … Especially for the new turner, you will take to this tool quickly. Just traverse the tool back and forth along the tool rest. For roughing cuts, the impact shock goes into the tool, to the rest blade, and is dispersed into the lathe. For finish cuts, drop the handle and ride the bevel on the cutter.

Tapered Tools … If you like to turn small hollow forms such as hollow globe Christmas ornaments, boxes, ort bowls or other small hollowed items the #1 Taper 3-piece set is an excellent choice.
